Karl F. Metler 97, formerly of Tatamy and Renaissance Senior Living since 2015, passed away on Friday, February 2, 2018 in St Luke's Hospital-Anderson Campus. He was the husband of Eleanor Hoffstadt Metler, with whom he shared 75 years of marriage last February.
Born March 2, 1920 in Tatamy, he was the son of the late Karl and Carrie Messinger Metler.
Karl graduated from Easton High School in 1937. Inducted into the Army in 1941, Karl was a WW II Veteran, who proudly served his country in Africa and Europe until 1945. He later attended Jeweler's school for 18 months and Watchmaking School for 2 years. Karl was employed at Ramball's Jewelry Store in Bethlehem from 1949 until his retirement in 1985.
He was a member of St. Peter's United Church of Christ in Tatamy, and the Tatamy Fire Company. Karl was an avid animal lover.
Along with his wife Eleanor, Karl is survived by one son, Gary and wife Beth of Tatamy; one daughter, Carla Barr of Downingtown; two grandchildren, Marissa and Tara and her husband Joe; and one great granddaughter, Payton.
He was predeceased by his sister Ruth Ramball.
Relatives and friends are invited to call on Thursday, February 8, 2018 from 10-11 am in the Schmidt Funeral Home, PC 407 Belvidere St. Nazareth. A Memorial service will follow at 11 am in the funeral home. Karl will be laid to rest in Forks Cemetery.
