Laia A. Strouse, beloved mother, sister, and friend, passed away on Friday, October 4, 2024, at the age of 76, in St. Luke's Hospice House in Bethlehem. Born September 14, 1948, in Pen Argyl, she a daughter of the late Roger and Beatrice (DeHaven) Manini. Laia was a dedicated and devoted mother to her daughter Tina, who always held a very special place in her heart. She was predeceased by her former husband, Eugene D. 'Tink' Strouse, who passed in 2013.

A proud graduate of Wilson High School, class of 1966, Laia carried the same enthusiasm from her school days into her adult life as an active member of the reunion committee. For many years, she worked as an office manager for K-Mart in Easton until her retirement in 2009, after which she continued to work part-time as a cashier for Friends and Family Country Restaurant. Laia's commitment to her community was unwavering, as evidenced by her 45 years of dedication to the Girl Scouts and her 10-year involvement with Relay for Life.

On a more personal note, she was the epitome of being fun-loving. Her laughter and joy were infectious to all around her. Described by those who knew her best as kind, considerate, trustworthy, and loyal, Laia's character was the foundation upon which many lasting relationships were built. She found joy in simple pleasures and with the deep bonds she forged with others. Her leisure time was often spent listening or singing to Country Music, following NASCAR on television and in person at races, taking scenic car rides with her daughter, Tina, or being at home in the company of her cats, Bubba and Sassy

Family was the cornerstone of Laia's life. She leaves behind, her daughter, Kristina 'Tina' Strouse; brothers Roger, Elio (Sue), and John; and sisters Mabel 'Cookie' Sleight, Alberta 'Pat' McAllister, and Sueann (Craig) Albert. She was predeceased by a daughter, Jamie Lee Strouse and brothers, Robert and Richard; many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Relatives and friends are invited to a viewing on Friday, October 11, from 10-11am at Schmidt Funeral Home, 202 West St., Wind Gap, with services starting at 11am. Burial will immediately follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Pen Argyl.
