Lela C. Meckler, 90, formerly of Belfast, passed away on Saturday, December 17, 2022 in St. Luke's Hospice House. She was the loving wife of John Meckler who passed away on January 17, 2018.

Born October 2, 1932 in Belfast, she was a daughter of the late Elwood E. Sr. and Sarah (Hinkle) Colver.

Lela was a 1950 graduate of Nazareth High School. She worked for many years as a teller at the First National Bank in Pen Argyl and later for Shaklee Distributer in Stockertown. She always enjoyed times spent with her family, especially when everyone gathered at the family cabin on the river. Lela and John were fantastic grandparents; their home was always welcoming and had "fun" things to do.

She was a member of St. Luke's United Church of Christ, Belfast.

She is survived by her son Ronald Meckler and his wife Karla of Mt. Bethel; grandchildren Jared Meckler and his wife Tiffany, Brandon Meckler and his partner Bethany, Meredith Mead and her husband Joe, Dr. Julie Gum and her husband Tony, and Jeffrey Gum; great grandchildren Brody, Hannah and Delaney as well as her daughter-in-law Patti Meckler and sister Geraldine Slavish.

Lela was predeceased by her son Dennis Meckler, grandson Christopher Gum, brother Elwood E. "Woody" Colver and sisters Fern Rutt and Hilda Hoch.

Relatives and friends are invited to a viewing on Thursday, December 22 from 10-11 AM in the Schmidt Funeral Home PC, 407 Belvidere St., Nazareth where the funeral service will begin at 11 AM. Lela will be laid to rest in Belfast Union Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to St Luke's Hospice House, 2455 Black River Road, Bethlehem, PA, 18015.
