Leona J. Remel, 96, passed away peacefully Thursday evening, April 6, 2023 in Gracedale Upper Nazareth Township. Born May 28, 1926 in Forks Township, she was a daughter of the late Allen P. and Ella C. (Yeisley) Remel.

Leona was a graduate of Nazareth High School and Churchman's Business School.  She was employed by the ANPA (American Newspaper Publishing Association) in Fork's Township for many years and later worked as a secretary for several law offices in the Nazareth area.  An accomplished musician, Leona served as the organist for St. Luke's United Church of Christ in Belfast for 35 years and later served as the organist for St. Peter's United Church of Christ in Tatamy, for many years, until her retirement.

She is survived by her nephews; Bryan Scott and wife Ellyn, Curtis Scott and his wife Marie, Cyril Remel and his wife Jan and niece Melanie (Scott) Klulowski and husband Mark, several great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews.

Along with her parents, Leona was predeceased by her sister Marguerite E. Scott, brother Carl T. Remel and nephew Dean Remel.

Relatives and friends are invited to a viewing on Thursday, April 13 from 10-11 am in the Schmidt Funeral Home PC, 407 Belvidere St., Nazareth where the funeral service will begin at 11 am.  Leona will be laid to rest in Fork's Cemetery.  Memorials in Leona's name may be sent to St. Luke's VNA, 240 Union Station Plaza, Bethlehem, PA or St. Peter's UCC, PO Box 188, Tatamy, PA 18085.
