Lewis R. Kessler, 82, of Washington Twp., passed away peacefully in his home on Tuesday, December 6, 2016, surrounded by his family. He was the loving husband of the late Joan A. Beers Kessler, with whom he shared 54 years of marriage at the time of her passing in 2008. Born February 12, 1934, in Plainfield Twp., he was a son of the late Owen and Laura Ackerman Kessler.

Lewis attended Pen Argyl High School and graduated with the Class of 1952. He worked as a heavy equipment operator for J. H. Beers Inc., from where he retired after more than 50 years of service. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He was a member of Richmond United Methodist Church in Bangor.

Lewis is survived by his children, Gary Kessler and his wife Angelica of Waynesboro, VA, Cynthia Kessler with whom he resided, and Jeffrey Kessler and his wife Melinda of Kunkletown. Also surviving are 6 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by 2 daughters, Judith Neff and Rebecca Kessler.

Relatives and friends are invited to call on Saturday, December 10, from 10:30-12:00 noon at the Schmidt Funeral Home, 407 Belvidere Street, Nazareth. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home at 12:00 noon with the Rev. Ed Van Arsdale officiating. Burial will follow in Forks Cemetery.
