Lina Pfaff, 87, formerly of York, PA passed away November 10, 2013 in the Lehigh Valley Cedar Crest Hospital of Allentown, PA. She was the wife of Karl Pfaff who died June 29, 1983. Born March 26, 1926 in Furthammer, Germany, she was a daughter of the late Johann and Anna Huettel. Lina immigrated to the United States in 1957. She became a U.S. citizen in 1966 and considered this distinction a proud moment throughout her life. Together with her husband Karl, they started out in Middletown, CT, lived in other towns, and settled in York which they considered home. Lina was professionally trained in Germany as a dressmaker. She worked as an expert tailor for multiple shops and a men's wear store and performed alterations out of her home during her retirement. Lina was a loving mother and grandmother who enjoyed spending time with her family. She enjoyed baking and cooking for family and friends and loved to travel. Later in her life she lived in retirement communities in the Lehigh Valley where she was well cared for. Lina was a member of St. Matthew Evangelical Lutheran Church, York and was active in Women's Circles at the church. She is survived by her only child, son Gerard Pfaff and his wife Donna of Bethlehem; grandchildren, Daniel and Carly; and sister, Louise Hilpert of Schoenbrunn, Germany. She was predeceased by sister Else Gruber. Funeral services will be held on Friday November 15 at 11 am in St. Matthew Evangelical Lutheran Church, 839 West Market St. York, PA 17401. Relatives and friends are invited to call from 10-11 am in the church. Burial will follow in Mount Zion Cemetery, Springettsbury Twp. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Lina's memory may be offered to the church. Arrangements have been entrusted to Schmidt Funeral Home, PC, 407 Belvidere St., Nazareth.
