Lucy E. Stackhouse, 100, formerly of Bethlehem, passed away May 12, 2015 in St. Luke's Hospital, Anderson Campus. She was the wife of the late Aaron W. Stackhouse who died in 1994. Born September 13, 1914 in Plainfield Twp., Lucy was a daughter of the late Aaron and Mamie (Houck) Hahn. Lucy graduated from Pen Argyl High School in 1930. Always a hard worker, she helped on the family farm, raised her six children and worked at numerous garment factories in the area over the years, retiring from Shirley Blouse Mill in Wind Gap in 1979. After her retirement, Lucy was a very dedicated volunteer at the Slate Belt Nursing Home until nearly 90. Always an inspiration to those around her, she will be missed by many, especially her family and her caregivers at Gracedale Nursing Home. She was a life member of Hope United Church of Christ in Wind Gap where she sang in the choir, served as Superintendent of the Sunday School and continued to be an active member as long as she was able. Lucy is survived by her children, Duane E. Stackhouse and his wife Doris of Bethlehem, Karl A. Stackhouse and his wife Janice of Nazareth, Gary R. Stackhouse and his wife Nancy of Forest, VA, Neil B. Stackhouse and his wife Linda of Wind Gap, Karen Pysher and her husband William of Bethlehem and Joan Bankus, widow of Frederick, of Mifflinville. Also surviving are 13 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and two brothers, William and Franklin Hahn. In addition to her parents and husband, Aaron, Lucy was predeceased by four sisters, Laura Heimer, Viola Miller, Catherine Thomas and Mary Larson. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Saturday, May 16, from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Hope United Church of Christ, 701 Cherry Street, Wind Gap. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m. in the church, with the Rev. Dr. Dean D. Frey presiding. Burial will be in Plainfield Cemetery. Arrangements are under the care and direction of the Schmidt Funeral Home, P.C., 202 West Street, Wind Gap.
