Obituary

Luella G. Solt, 94, passed away peacefully on November 30, 2025, at Moravian Hall Square, Nazareth. Born on December 30, 1930, in Nazareth, Luella was a daughter of the late Erwin and Lula (Fehr) Smith.

She was a graduate of Nazareth High School, Class of 1948, where she was voted as "Miss Popular Cutie" and graduated 7th in her class. It was there that she met the love of her life, her high school sweetheart, Carl G. Solt. Their love story was one for the ages, culminating in a marriage that spanned seven decades until Carl's passing in 2021.

In her early married years, Luella worked as a secretary for the Penn Dixie Co. However, her true calling was music, and she later became a beloved piano teacher. For over 50 years, Luella's home was filled with the sound of piano keys and the laughter of children as she imparted her musical knowledge to generations of students in Nazareth. Her dedication to her craft made her somewhat of a local icon, and her influence on the musical landscape of her hometown is immeasurable.

Luella was a lifelong resident of Nazareth. Remarkably, she lived on the same street her entire life! She was also a lifelong member of St. John's United Church of Christ in Nazareth, where she was involved with numerous church activities. Her upbringing, hometown pride, and her faith provided a foundation for living life with grace and humility.

Those who knew Luella will remember her for her strong devotion and love of family, gentle spirit, musical gifts, and the warmth she brought to all who knew her. Her memory will continue to inspire and uplift those left behind.

She will be lovingly remembered and dearly missed by her family; daughter, LuAnn C. Glantz (Carlton) of Nazareth; her brother, Woodrow Smith of Saylorsburg; her granddaughters, Christina C. O'Neil (Christopher) of Glen Ridge, NJ, and Carly A. Watson (Shane) of Nazareth; and her two great-grandsons, Cash O'Neil and Crew Watson who affectionally called her "G G MA". Luella was recently predeceased by her son, Glenn Solt, her sister Virginia in infancy, and her brothers, Kenneth and Willard Smith.

Relatives and friends are invited to a viewing on Thursday, December 4, from 10:30-11 am in the Schmidt Funeral Home PC, 407 Belvidere St., Nazareth. Services with Pastor David Kidd will begin in the funeral home at 11 am. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery, Nazareth.

In lieu of flowers, memorials, in Luella's name, may be offered to: Family Pillars Hospice, 390 Adler Place, Suite 130, Bethlehem, PA 18017.
