Margaret Elaine Albert, passed away on July 16, 2023, at St. Luke's - Anderson Campus, Bethlehem Township, PA. Born on April 11, 1931, in Stockertown, PA, she was a daughter of the late Edwin and Stella Schlegel Smickley.
Margaret was the beloved wife of the late Charles "Chuck" Albert, who predeceased her on January 15, 2006. She is survived by her sister Jean Smickley Roper and husband Russell, brother Marlin Smickley, and a host of nieces and nephews who were like her own children. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by an infant son, Brian, and siblings June Riegel, Ralph Smickley, Paul Smickley, Marion Mucha, Robert Smickley, and Madelyn Beers.
Margaret was a dedicated employee of Bear Automotive in Bangor, PA, where she worked in various capacities for many years.
Margaret was a woman who relished life and embraced every opportunity to enjoy it. She was an avid traveler and loved taking camping trips in her RV. She had a fondness for games, whether they were board games or card games, and was a regular participant at the Slate Belt Senior Center where she often held a winning hand of Pinochle. Margaret was a social butterfly who loved being around people. She was always on the go, and occasionally, her adventures took her to a casino.
Yet, it was her kind heart and generosity that truly set her apart. Margaret had a special place in her heart for her extended family of nieces and nephews, always ensuring they felt loved and cherished. Her kindness extended beyond her family, touching the lives of everyone she met.
Margaret was a faithful member of Hope UCC in Wind Gap. Her church was an important part of her life, providing her comfort and guidance throughout the years.
A Memorial Service will be held at Hope United Church of Christ, 701 Cherry St., Wind Gap, PA on Saturday, August 19, beginning at 11am. Relatives and friends are invited to call the hour before, from 10-11am. Burial will be private with the family. Arrangements have been entrusted to Schmidt Funeral Home PC, 202 West St., Wind Gap.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Margaret's name can be sent directly to the Slate Belt Senior Citizens Center, 707 American Bangor Rd., Bangor, PA 18103.
