Margaret Hanner, 89, of Nazareth, passed away Tuesday, April 14, 2015, at home. She was the wife of Stephen Hanner with whom she shared 68 years of marriage. Born on Feburary 11, 1926 in Allentown, she was the daughter of the late Adolph and Josephine (Schreiner) Knauss. Margaret worked as a sewing machine operator at the Clyde Shirt Company in Northampton. She enjoyed music, especially polka music, and played the German accordion. Margaret was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She took pride in her home and being a care giver to her grandchildren. Margaret was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, Nazareth. She was a member of the Holy Family Altar Rosary Society and sang on the church choir for many years. In addition to her husband, Stephen, Margaret is survived by three daughters, Cynthia Olenwine and husband Gary, Sylvia Harrington and husband Thomas, and Lori Bennett and husband Jeff, all of Bushkill Township. Also surviving are four grandchildren, Kristen Sauers and husband Adrian, Amanda Bennett, Shane Olenwine and Stephen Harrington; one great-granddaughter, Corinne Sauers; and two sisters, Angela O'Mara, of Whitehall and Helen Cassidy, of Bethlehem. Along with her parents, she was predeceased by sisters Erna Knauss and Erica Leitgeb. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Monday, April 20, from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. in the Schmidt Funeral Home, 407 Belvidere St., Nazareth. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church, 430 East Center Street, Nazareth, with the Rev. Joseph Tobias presiding. Interment will be in Holy Family Cemetery Mausoleum.
