Marie E. Long, 99, of Orange Park, Florida passed away unexpectedly on October 28, 2019 in her home.
Born January 11, 1920 in Fayetteville, PA, she was the daughter of Daniel H. Yaukey and Margie K (Lowry) Yaukey.
She is survived by 3 sons, John A Long, Orange Park, FL, Dr. Robert D. Long, Lewisburg, PA, and David D. Long, East Stroudsburg, PA; along with 4 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren.
Her grandfather Robert Lowry, a Baptist minister, elected Chancellor of Bucknell Univ., had edited 22 hymnals and authored many hymns including: "Shall We Gather at the River", and "We're Marching to Zion".
Marie grew up in Fayetteville, PA, and Chambersburg, PA, graduated Lankenau Hospital as RN in 1941. She married the Rev. Dr. Alfred L. Long, 1941. They served in several Lutheran Churches in PA where she was active in choirs and women's groups. They retired from St. John's Lutheran Church, Nazareth, PA.
Graveside services open to old friends and family in Greenwood Cemetery, Nazareth, PA at 1 pm this Saturday, Nov 9, 2019. Additionally, a memorial service will be held in the Advent Lutheran Church, Orange Park, FL, on Saturday, November 23 at 11 am. Local arrangements are under the care of the Schmidt Funeral Home, 407 Belvidere St., Nazareth, PA.
