Obituary

Mary Louise Mitchell, 89, formerly of Plainfield Township, passed away on Wednesday, September 2, 2015, at Alexandria Manor, Nazareth, where she had been a resident for the past three years. Born December 10, 1925 in Phillipsburg, NJ, she was a daughter of the late John Wesley and Louise LeVan Dick. Mary Louise graduated from Phillipsburg High School, and from a very young age knew that she was called to care for others, and she especially loved caring for children. A Registered Nurse, she attended Cornell University in NY, graduated from St. Agnes School of Nursing in Philadelphia, and also from Trenton State College. She began her career as a Nurse at Wilson High School. In the 1960's, Mary Louise was the town nurse in Phillipsburg, caring for families at the Baby Station. She retired from the Phillipsburg School District as a School Nurse in 1985, after more than 25 years of service. Mary Louise was a kind, generous, compassionate person and true to her calling, she fulfilled the purpose that God called her to be as a blessing to others. She was a member of the Rock Church of Easton. Mary Louise was the beloved mother of Pamela Willever and her husband Thomas, of Plainfield Twp., and Mark Mitchell and his wife Maite of Langhorne. Also surviving are her three beloved grandchildren, Vanessa, David and Jonathan Mitchell, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Douglas Dick and James Dick, and her sisters, Evelyn Simpson and Rebecca Dick. Services will be private at the convenience of the family. Contributions in Mary Louise's memory may be offered to the Children's Home of Easton, 2000 South 25th Street, Easton, PA, 18042.
