Obituary

Mary E. Williams, 84, of Pen Argyl, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, February 14, 2013 at her residence. BORN: Born July 28, 1928 in Ackermanville, she was a daughter of the late John Sr. and Emma Beers Itterly. Mary was the wife of Donald G., who died January 27, 2013. Together they had celebrated 59 years of marriage. PERSONAL: Mary was a packager for ACME where she retired after 20 years of service. She enjoyed baking and loved flowers, especially tulips. MEMBERSHIPS: She was a member of St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Plainfield Township where she served on council, was president of the LCW, and taught Sunday School. Because of Mary's giving spirit, she was awarded the Distinguished Disciple Award in 2001. Mary was also a former life member of Plainfield Township Fire Co. Ladies Auxiliary, a judge of elections for the West Bangor District, a member of the Wind Gap Senior Citizens and AARP in Bangor, as well as a faithful volunteer working in the sausage stand at the Plainfield Farmers Fair. SURVIVORS: Mary will be lovingly remembered by one brother, John Itterly Jr. and his wife Geraldine of Plainfield Township; one sister Viola A. Hill, a resident of Gracedale; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband Donald and her parents, she was predeceased by a sister Betty Weaver. SERVICES: Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Monday in St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1422 Church Rd, Pen Argyl with the Rev. C. Frank Terhune presiding. Relatives and friends are invited to call 9:30-11:00 am in the church. Burial will follow in Plainfield Cemetery. Following the burial, everyone is invited back to the church for a time of fellowship and refreshments. Arrangements are under the care and direction of the Schmidt Funeral Home P.C., 202 West St., Wind Gap. MEMORIALS: In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Mary may be offered to the church.
