Merril A. "Nook" Harding, 87, of Wind Gap Passed away on Thursday, May 1, 2014 in Lehigh Valley Hospital, Cedar Crest. He was the husband of the late Irene Matyas Harding. Together they celebrated 66 years of marriage. Born August 2, 1926 in Wind Gap, he was a son of the late Willis and Grace Harding. Merril was a graduate of Pen Argyl High School, class of 1944. Before retiring, he worked in the shipping department of Binney and Smith Corp. Nook was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who cherished time spent with his grandchildren. He was very generous when donating to charities throughout his life and in his spare time enjoyed listening to blue grass music. He was a lifetime member of First United Methodist Church in Wind Gap where he sang on the choir and was a member of the 50 Year Club at Binney and Smith. He is survived by his only child, son Kevin P. and his wife Brenda of Nazareth, four grandchildren, Douglas and his wife Lauren, Daniel, Lea and Maria Harding. He was predeceased by brothers Larry May, Douglas Harding, Keith Harding and William Harding. Funeral Services will be held on Monday at 11 am in the Schmidt Funeral Home 407 Belvidere St., Nazareth, with the Rev. William Kuntze presiding. Relatives and friends are invited to call Sunday evening, from 6-8 pm and Monday from 10-11 am, in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Wind Gap Cemetery. Memorials in Merril's name may be offered to First United Methodist Church, 19 West St., Wind Gap, PA 18091.
