Mervin G. Kessler 103, of Plainfield Township, passed away Friday, January 4, 2013 in Gracedale Nursing Home. BORN: January 15, 1909, in Plainfield Township, he was one of six sons born to the late Abraham Isaac and Ella Amanda (Butz) Kessler. PERSONAL: As a centenarian, Mervin was a long time resident of Plainfield Township. He was previously employed by the Flory Milling Company, for 59 years until retirement. He enjoyed being outside and doing yard work up until the last few years of his life. Mervin was the beloved husband of the former Alberta Louisa Stauffer who died in February, 2004. MEMBERSHIPS: Until his passing, Mervin was honored as being the oldest member of St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Plainfield Township. SURVIVORS: His loving family, one son, William M. Kessler and his wife Judy of Ackermanville and one daughter, Elaine M. Curry and her husband James of Nazareth; three grandchildren, Scott Kessler and his wife, Kimberley of Easton, Brian Kessler and his companion, Cheryl of Bangor and Mark Curry and his wife Kristie of Nazareth; two great-grandchildren, Alexa and Landon Curry of Nazareth. In addition to his wife Alberta, he was predeceased by five brothers, two grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. SERVICES: A funeral service will be held at 11:00am, Wednesday, at the Schmidt Funeral Home, PC, 202 West Street, Wind Gap. Relatives and friends are invited to call 10:00 - 11:00am Wednesday in the funeral home. Burial will be held, following services, at Plainfield Cemetery, Plainfield Township.
