Mildred M. "Millie" Sours passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 23, 2024, at the age of 95, in Alexandria Manor, Nazareth. Born on April 11, 1929, in Bethlehem, she was a daughter of the late Chester and Erma Sperling Roth. She and her beloved husband, Frank, celebrated 62 years of marriage prior to his passing in 2010.

Millie was a proud graduate of Nazareth High School, class of 1947. Her work ethic and caring nature were evident throughout her career, which included roles as a cafeteria worker at the Whitfield School, a receptionist for Dr. Kehoe's podiatry office, and eventually a position at Love-a-Lot Nursery school within St. John's Lutheran Church, where she worked until her well-earned retirement.

Millie's interests were a reflection of her love for life and her community. She was a wonderful homemaker who valued the time spent with her family above all. Known for her baking skills and her talent for cross-stitching, Millie also found solace in the pages of a good book. However, it was her passion for sports that often brought her the most excitement. An avid fan of the Nazareth Blue Eagles, the Philadelphia Eagles, and the Philadelphia Phillies, she shared countless memories with her husband as season ticket holders for the Phillies. When she couldn't be at the games, her enthusiasm was undiminished as she cheered on her teams as she watched the television from her living room.

Her faith was as steadfast as her love for sports. Millie was a devoted member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Nazareth. Her commitment to her church was unwavering, as she served with the Altar Guild, Evangelism Committee, Prayer Chain, ELCW, Von Bora Society, and helped with the Food Bank. Millie's dedication and church work were an inspiration to all who knew her.

Family was the cornerstone of Millie's life. She is survived by her loving daughters, Jocelyn Starner and her husband Thomas, and Andrea Bickert and her husband Richard, all of Nazareth. Millie was the proud grandmother to six grandchildren: Allison Latif and husband Michael, Mark Zier and wife Tabitha, Frank Starner and wife Abby, Elizabeth Starner and companion Chris Fairchild, Laura Bickert Ciarlello and her husband Alessandro, and Amie Tracy and husband Erik. Her joy multiplied with the addition of 12 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Others who held a special place in her heart include her nieces, nephew and Michiko Tabei, former exchange student from Japan and a cherished member of the family. In addition to her husband, Frank, Millie was predeceased by a daughter, Kathleen Herfurth, and a sister, Louise Gosma.

Millie's life was a testament to the power of kindness, the strength of family bonds, and the importance of community. She will be remembered as a woman who lived her life with grace and purpose, touching the lives of many with her spirited nature and deep faith.

Relatives and friends are invited to a viewing Wednesday, October 30, from 10am – 11am at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 200 South Broad St., Nazareth, PA 18064. Funeral services will begin at 11am, in the church, with the Rev. Scott A. Hall presiding. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Church Improvement Fund, in care of the church.
