Obituary

Naomi Emma (Raschka) Peckenschneider, 82, passed away on April 22, 2021 at Moravian Hall Square, where she resided. She was the wife of Victor Peckenschneider. Born in Dundalk, Maryland, she was the daughter of Rev. Joseph T. Raschka and Emma Raschka.

Growing up Naomi was very involved in the activities at Christ Lutheran Church in Dundalk, where her father was the Pastor. She played the organ, taught Sunday School, and participated in youth group activities. Her father had a habit of inviting servicemen from the local army base who attended church services over for Sunday dinner, and that was how she met the love of her life and husband for 62 years.

Naomi married Vic in 1959. They eventually moved to Long Island, NY, where they raised their family. She played the organ at their church there, and was secretary at the local high school. In 1980 they moved to Idaho, where Naomi went back to school to earn her business degree. After several more moves, back to Long Island, where she was a secretary at a local college, and after retiring to Great Bend, PA, they finally settled in Nazareth. Throughout their marriage Naomi and Vic traveled extensively, instilling a love of nature in their children and grandchildren through many camping trips throughout the country. They enjoyed many cruises and toured Europe and the Holy Land. Naomi loved to work in her gardens, growing beautiful flowers and delicious vegetables.

Naomi is survived by her husband, two sisters, four children, six grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, June 6, 2021 at 1pm in Faith Lutheran Church, Sullivan Trail, Easton. Arrangements are under the care of the Schmidt Funeral Home, 407 Belvidere St., Nazareth.

In Naomi's name, memorial contributions may be made to Faith Lutheran Church, 2012 Sullivan Trail, Easton, PA 18040, or to Moravian Hall Square "Morningstar Living Foundation", 175 W. North St., Nazareth, PA 18064.
