Nettie J. Newman, 92, formerly of Belfast, passed away January 2, 2023 in St. Luke's Hospital, Fountain Hill. She was the loving husband of Ralph F. Newman who passed away on February 8, 2004. They were married June 18, 1949 and celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary on June 18th, 2003, prior to Ralph's passing.

Born June 12, 1930 in Plainfield Township, she was a daughter of the late Harry Rupell Sr. and Florence (Hopple) Rupell.

Nettie worked as a sewing machine operator for Tatamy Shirt Waste from 1947-1957.

She is survived by her son Richard Newman of Bath and her daughter Jane Newman of Nazareth; 1 grandson Joshua English and his wife Britney of Easton; and 1 granddaughter Sasha Langberg and her husband Jason of Fairbanks, Alaska. Nettie was predeceased by 1 brother Harry Rupell Jr. and 1 sister Irene Itterly.

Relatives and friends are invited to a viewing on Tuesday, January 17 from 11 am- noon in the Schmidt Funeral Home PC, 407 Belvidere St., Nazareth where the funeral service will follow at noon. Nettie will be laid to rest in Plainfield Cemetery.
