Phyllis H. Henshue, 85, of Wind Gap, passed away on December 23, 2016 at Slatebelt Health and Rehabilitation Center, Bangor. She was the beloved wife of Walter Henshue, with whom she shared 67 years of marriage. Born January 5, 1931, in Northampton, she was a daughter of the late Marcus and Beatrice Mann Hilberg.
Phyllis acquired her Real Estate Broker License and from 1972-1995, along with her husband Walter, owned and operated Henshue Realtors, which later became Century 21 Henshue. She and Walter also loved to Square Dance, a past time they enjoyed for over 23 years. While living in Texas, they were members of the United Methodist Church in Rockport, where they were in charge of preparing and serving meals for more than 100 people.
Phyllis was a member of St. Luke's United Church of Christ in Belfast, where she was proud to serve as the first female deacon and elder of the church. She also served as a Sunday School Teacher and later taught adult classes.
In addition to her husband, Phyllis is survived by two sons, Thomas and his wife Stephanie of Wind Gap, and Walter Todd and his wife Cheryl of Saylorsburg, and two daughters, Terry Jane Racciato and her husband Joseph of Carlsbad, CA, and Patricia Ann Medellin of Houston, TX. Also surviving are two sisters, Harriet Meckes of Northampton and Bernice Bollman and her husband Phillip of Pittsburgh; a brother, Steven Hilberg of Beersville; 9 grandchildren; 3 step-grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a sister, Dorothy Edwards.
Relatives and friends are invited to call on Thursday, December 29, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at St. Luke's United Church of Christ, 471 Belfast Road, Nazareth, PA, 18064 (Belfast), where funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Frank Gassler and Pastor Paul Milligan officiating. Burial will follow at Belfast Union Cemetery. Arrangements are under the care and direction of the Schmidt Funeral Home, Nazareth.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Phyllis' memory may be made to St. Luke's United Church of Christ, at the above address.
