Obituary

Raymond A. Flowers, 94, of Nazareth, passed away Wednesday, November 20, 2019 in Lehigh Valley Hospital, Muhlenberg Campus, with his loving family at his side.

Born September 5, 1925 in Canonsburg, PA, he was a son of the late Smith A. and Leadie Smith Flowers.

Ray honorably served in the Navy during WW II. He was employed as a burner for the Nazareth Steel Fabricators and later worked at Stofanak Custom Cabinets. In retirement, he worked as a parking attendant for the Schmidt Funeral Home.

He was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Nazareth, where he served as an usher and helped with the annual Christmas decorations. Ray also held memberships in the Whitfield Lodge F&AM, Shriners, Tall Cedars and the Grasshoppers golf league.

Ray was a kind and humble man who took great pride in his family and their accomplishments. His endearing personality will be missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his son, Raymond A. "Skip" Flowers and his wife Mary Beth of Bushkill Township; his daughter, Sandra Blayle and her husband Richard of Lower Nazareth; 1 stepson, David P. Koehler and his wife Beth Knickerbocker of Williams Township; 2 granddaughters, Skye LaStella and her husband Brett, and Shannon Davis and her husband James; 1 step grandson, Dr. Eric Bennicoff and his wife Daniela; 4 great grandchildren, Brynlee, Brooklyn, Ayden and Kylan; 2 step great granddaughters, Ella and Serafina; as well as 2 brothers, James Flowers of Canonsburg and Burt Flowers of West Virginia.

Ray was predeceased by his first wife, Joyce Bucchi Flowers in 1993; and his second wife, JoAnne Engler Flowers.

Relatives and friends are invited to call on Tuesday, November 26 from 10 – 11 am in the Schmidt Funeral Home, 407 Belvidere St., Nazareth. A memorial service will follow at 11 am in the funeral home. Ray will be laid to rest in Hope Cemetery, Hecktown.
