Richard A. Garr, 88, of Nazareth, passed away Friday, December 18, 2020 in Moravian Hall Square. He was the husband of the late Dolores (Hagenbuch) Garr who passed away January 14, 2017.

Born February 11, 1932 in Cherry Hill, he was the only child of the late Monford and Sadie (Metz) Garr.

Richard graduated from Nazareth High School in 1950 and attended Churchman's Business School where he later taught penmanship and shorthand. He was a veteran of the US Army where he served as a sergeant in the Korean War.

Richard worked for many years in the banking business, retiring as president of Greater Bethlehem Savings and Loan. He later obtained his realtor's license and worked for Century 21 and Coldwell Banker Heritage Real Estate.

He was an active member of St. John's United Church of Christ in Nazareth, and was involved in the Nazareth Lions Club.

Richard is survived by son, Richard (Cynthia); daughter Sandra Garr (Evan); two granddaughters, Jennifer Hodges (Jervis) and Deirdre Johns (J.J.), three great grandchildren, Maya, Claudia and Henry; sister-in-law, Doris Pizzuto; two nieces; and one nephew.

Graveside services will be held on Saturday, December 26, 2020 at 1 pm in Greenwood Cemetery, High Street, Nazareth, with Pastor Jeffery Brinks presiding. Face coverings and social distancing will be required at the cemetery. Due to COVID 19 restrictions, the family will have a private viewing prior to the service. Arrangements are under the care of the Schmidt Funeral Home, 407 Belvidere St., Nazareth.

Contributions in lieu of flowers in Richard's memory may be offered to St. John's UCC, 183 S. Broad St., Nazareth, PA 18064; or to a charity of one's choice.
