Richard A. "Rick" Unangst, 56, of Nazareth, passed away Thursday, July 28, 2022, at St. Lukes Hospice, Bethlehem.  Born March 6, 1966, he was a son of Salette Marmelo of Bethlehem Twp., and the late Richard Unangst.  He was the beloved husband of Kelly Roth Unangst with whom he shared 10 years of marriage.

Rick was a graduate of Freedom High School, Class of 1984.  He was employed as a heavy equipment operator for Chrin Landfill and was a member of, and served with, the Bethlehem Township Volunteer Fire Co. for over 10 years.  He was a big man with a big heart.  He liked rock music and the simple things in life, and he loved his friends and family.  While most people find yardwork to be a chore, Rick loved mowing the lawn on his John Deere.  When he no longer ran with the fire company, Rick was absorbed in listening to fire calls that came through on his scanner.  During fishing season, he took his young son Ricky fishing almost every weekend and, when they weren't outside, together they watched fishing shows on the History channel.   As a family, going to "junk sales," flea markets or yard sales, during weekends was always great fun.

In addition to his mother, Rick is survived by his wife Kelly and a son, Richard "Ricky" Unangst; 1 brother, Joseph Unangst and his wife Cindy of Urbana, MD.

Relatives and friends are invited to a calling, Friday August 5, from 4:00-5:00 pm at Schmidt Funeral Home, PC, 407 Belvidere St., Nazareth.  A Memorial service, with Rev. Dr. Dean D. Frey presiding, will follow at 5:00 in the funeral home.

Burial will take place at a later date.
