Robert H. Fulmer, 88, of Plainfield Township, passed away Tuesday, January 26, 2016 at Gracedale Nursing Home where he had been a resident for the past several months. He was the beloved husband of Ruth M. Shimer Fulmer, with whom he celebrated 63 years of marriage this past October. Born on June 13, 1927, in Bethlehem Twp., he was a son of the late Robert B. and Adele Luhrs Fulmer.
Bob graduated from Nazareth High School in 1944, and went on to honorably serve his country with the US Army Air Force during World War II. He was self-employed as a dairy farmer and, together with his late brother, Berton "Ducky" Fulmer, operated Juniperdale Farms in Plainfield Township since 1947.
He was a member of Hope United Church of Christ in Wind Gap. Always active in his community, Bob was very involved with the Plainfield Farmers Fair, and was a lifetime member of the Plainfield Township Fire Co. and the PA Farm Bureau.
In addition to his beloved wife Ruth, Bob is survived by three sons, Robert W. "Bobby" and his wife Nancy J., Bruce A. and his wife Linda L. Fulmer, and Brian D. and his wife Eva M., and two daughters, Betty A. Barlieb and her husband Kenneth, and Susan A. Hahn, all of Plainfield Township. Also surviving are 13 grandchildren, Robert M. and his wife Randi L., Amy C. Keosian and her husband Eric, Ty Fox, Cassandra Bogert and her husband Ryan, Taralee, Shane, Matthew, Brian C. and his wife Alyssa, Crystal Sullivan and her husband Michael, Jeffrey Barlieb and his wife Carly, Charlene Tanis and her husband Adam, Scott H. Hahn and Cole G. Hahn; and 7 great-grandchildren, Raelynn K., Anna M., Michael, Luke J., Reid K., Sam R., and Raegan L. In addition to his parents, Bob was predeceased by 3 brothers, 2 sisters, a great-granddaughter, Ava G., and a great-grandson, Baby Sullivan.
Family and friends are invited to call on Sunday, January 31, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., and on Monday, February 1, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Hope United Church of Christ, 701 Cherry Street, Wind Gap, PA, 18091. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m., in the Church with the Rev. Dr. Dean D. Frey officiating. Burial will follow at Plainfield Cemetery, Pen Argyl (Plainfield Twp). Services are under the care and direction of the Schmidt Funeral Home PC, in Nazareth.
