Robert H. Nelson, 90, of Tatamy, passed away Friday, February 6, 2015, at Hospice House of the VNA of St. Luke's, Bethlehem. He was the beloved husband of Arlene (Gordon) Nelson, with whom he shared 62 wonderful years of marriage. Born January 26, 1925 in Millbrook, Alabama, Bob was the son of the late Willie and Ethel (Hill) Nelson. A member of the U.S. Navy, Bob honorably served his country aboard the USS Tarawa during WWII and was the recipient of many Good Conduct and service medals. A member of the 35 Year Club, he worked for Binney & Smith (now Crayola) as a Lab Chemist. After his retirement, he became an avid golfer and was a well-known friendly face at Herman's Service Center in Tatamy, where he just enjoyed keeping busy. He was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ in Nazareth. In addition to his wife, Arlene, Bob is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Timothy and Ruth Nelson of Stockertown. Also surviving are two grandsons, Todd Nelson and his wife Kelly of Allentown, and Ryan Nelson and his companion Laurie of Nazareth; and two great-grandsons, Jack and Elijah Nelson. Family and friends are invited to call from 6 to 8 pm on Tuesday, February 10th, and from 10 to 11 am on Wednesday, February 11th, at the Schmidt Funeral Home, 407 Belvidere Street, Nazareth, PA. A funeral service will follow at 11 am with the Rev. Curtis Kemmerer presiding. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery, Hecktown. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Bob's name may be made to St. John's United Church of Christ, 183 South Broad Street, Nazareth, PA 18064
