Robert F. Tenges, 88, of Nazareth, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, September 14, 2016 at his residence, with his family by his side. He was the loving husband of Irene Rohn Tenges; together they celebrated 68 years of marriage.

Born November 28, 1927 in Plainfield Township, he was the son of the late Earl and Florence Weient Tenges.

Bob was employed for many years by the Plainfield Township Road Department where he retired as Roadmaster in 1989. Earlier in life, Bob and his wife Irene enjoyed snowmobiling at their cabin in Pecks Pond and, in later years, spent winters with their fellow "snowbirds" in Ocala, Florida.

He was a member of Forks United Church of Christ where he was a member of the Adult Fellowship and served as a greeter.

Along with his beloved wife Irene, Bob is survived by one son, Dennis Tenges and his wife Dorene of Bethlehem Township; one daughter, Donna Steinmetz and her husband Barry of Nazareth; three grandchildren, Tracey Slavin and her husband Tom, Barrett Steinmetz and his wife Danielle, and Kyle Steinmetz and his wife Heather; as well as a great-grandson Seth Slavin, and great-granddaughter Parker Steinmetz. Bob is also survived by many nieces and nephews, and his sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law. In addition to his parents, Bob is predeceased by his sister Arlene Heard.

A viewing will be held on Monday, September 19, 2016 from 10-11 am in Forks United Church of Christ, 4500 Sullivan Trail, Stockertown, PA 18083. A funeral service will follow at 11 am with Rev. Bob Gutekunst presiding. Burial will be in Forks Cemetery. Arrangements are under the care and direction of the Schmidt Funeral Home PC, 407 Belvidere St., Nazareth.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Bob's name may be offered to Forks United Church of Christ at the above address.
