Obituary

Robert A. Young, age 76 of Bushkill Township, passed away unexpectedly Saturday morning, April 26, 2014, at St. Luke's Hospital Anderson Campus. BORN: Born May 21, 1937 in Nazareth, he was a son of the late Emmitt E. and Rebecca Reber Young. He was the husband of the former Trudy Baum; together they celebrated 26 years of marriage. PERSONAL: Robert was a graduate of Nazareth High School class of 1955 and was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was employed at Specialty Minerals, Inc., (formerly Pfizer), retiring in 1998 after 39 years of service. Robert was an avid golfer, hunter, and fisherman, and enjoyed sprint cars. MEMBERSHIPS: He was a member of the Nazareth Moravian Church, where he served on the Board of Trustees. He was a member and past master of the Whitfield Lodge #622 F&AM, the NRA, and the Belfast Rod & Gun Club. SURVIVORS: Along with his loving wife Trudy, Robert is survived by three sons, Michael A. of Nazareth, Brooks of Pen Argyl, and Robert A. Jr. of Nazareth; four grandchildren, Kevin, Cole, Giulianna and Brooke; and two sisters, Jean Mooney of Minnesota, and Peggy Recker of Nazareth. He was predeceased by a sister, Ruth Ann Getz. SERVICES: A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, May 1, at 7 pm in the Nazareth Moravian Church, 4 S. Main St., Nazareth, with the Reverend Jeffrey Gehris presiding. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Thursday from 6 to 7 pm in the church. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family in Nazareth Moravian Cemetery. Arrangements are under the care and direction of the Schmidt Funeral Home, P.C., 407 Belvidere St., Nazareth. MEMORIALS: Memorials in Robert's name may be offered to the Whitfield Lodge, 42 7th St., Tatamy, PA 18085.
