Roger Bruce Oswald, age 73, passed away at his home on October 20, 2024. He lived in Lower Nazareth Township. Born in Lehigh County on December 7, 1950, he was the son of the late Bruce D. Oswald and Trene M. (Eltz) Oswald. He was married to his beloved wife Gwen (McClain) Oswald of 41 years.
Roger graduated from Brandywine Heights High School in 1968. He served in the United States Marine Corps from 1968 to 1974, during which time he selflessly served during the Vietnam War. After his military service, he spent over 30 years as a Welder and then Supervisor at the Martin's Creek plant for Pennsylvania Power and Light, retiring in 2012. Roger is very much missed by all of his family and friends, and will be remembered for his bravery, selflessness, dedication, and work ethic.
In addition to his wife Gwen, he will be dearly missed by his sister Kris A. (Oswald) wife of Dennis Shoemaker of Mertztown, son Thatcher Oswald and his wife Kari of Nazareth, daughter Nissa (Oswald) Toth and her husband John of Crestview, Florida, two daughters from his previous marriage, Nicole and Crystal and their husbands and families, Kyle Cummings and his wife Sarah (Shriner) Cummings of Slatington, as well as nine grandchildren; Veronica, Chloe, Spencer, Cooper, and Mia Oswald, Kenlyn and Aidan Toth, Kale and Jack Cummings; many beloved nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister Annette Marie "Nettie" (Oswald) Reeves, who is survived by her husband Daniel Reeves.
Relatives and friends are invited to a viewing, Friday, October 25, from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. in the Schmidt Funeral Home, PC, 407 Belvidere St., Nazareth, with a Funeral Service beginning at 11:00 AM. Burial, with Military Honors, will follow at Northampton Memorial Shrine, 3051 Green Pond Road, Easton.
