Obituary

Ronald J. Marshall, 54, of Wind Gap, passed away early Saturday morning March 23, 2013 in Easton Hospital. Born July 25, 1958 in Easton, he was the son of James and Alberta Zellner Marshall of Wind Gap. Ron graduated from Nazareth High School where he played right tackle for the Blue Eagle football team. Following graduation, he worked in various capacities as a carpenter. He loved the outdoors and spent his spare time hunting, fishing and volunteering for the DC&R at Jacobsburg State Park. Ron was a member of St Luke's United Church of Christ in Belfast, where he actively participated in various fundraisers, he was also a social member of East Lawn Fire Co., and a former member of Vigilance Hose Fire Co. Earlier in life, he attained the rank of Eagle Scout. Ron was considered a true craftsman. When illness prompted him to prearrange his funeral, he decided to design and build his own casket, an endeavor that was chronicled in the Morning Call. Along with his parents Jim and Alberta, he is survived by one son Jeffrey R. Marshall; 2 sisters Annette Lippincott and her husband Norman and Michelle Calabrese and her husband Thomas; 2 grandchildren Taryn and Kirsten in addition to several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 11 am Thursday in St Luke's UCC, 474 Belfast Rd., Belfast. Relatives and friends are invited to call 7-9pm Wednesday in the church and 10-11am Thursday in the church. Burial will follow in Belfast Union Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be offered, in Ron's name, to the Boy Scouts, Northeast Council 1 Bob Mellow Drive, Moosic. PA 18507, or the American Cancer Society L.V. Unit, 3893 Adler Place, Ste 170, Bethlehem, PA 18017.
