Rosemarie G. "Rosie" Lichner, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and sister, passed away peacefully at Alexandria Manor in Nazareth, on Saturday, October 7, 2023. Born July 21, 1950 in Fountain Hill, Rosie was a daughter of the late Albert J. and Mable (Schaadt) Gilio.
A graduate of Nazareth High School, Class of 1969, Rosie later attended Empire Beauty School formerly in Easton. As a licensed cosmetologist, she was a proud businesswoman operating "Rosie's Beauty Shoppe" out of her home for 44 years. Her clients were not just customers but friends, and her shop was a hub of community and camaraderie.
In addition to her professional endeavors, Rosie was deeply involved in her community. She was a tireless volunteer, dedicating her time to scouting, Nazareth High School football boosters, and youth baseball. From 1982-2015, she worked with the Nazareth Midget baseball program, impacting countless young lives. Rosie also served as a former president of the Tatamy Fire Co. Ladies Auxiliary.
A faithful member of Hope Lutheran Church in Tatamy, Rosie was active with the Quilters Group, Vacation Bible Study, and was a former head of the kitchen. At home, Rosie was a good cook and dedicated homemaker, her love for her family was steadfast and evident each and every day.
Everyone who knew her understood Rosie had a zest for life and a passion for shopping! She loved going to yard sales, always on the hunt for a good buy. She believed that one could never have too much of a good thing, a philosophy that extended to her love for her family and friends.
Although outspoken at times, Rosie was known for her loyalty and her ability to bring people together. She was often the ringleader of her group of fun-loving friends, leading adventures and hosting lively poker games on Friday nights. Her laughter and spirit will be greatly missed by all.
Rosie was the cherished wife of Joseph "Joe" Lichner, with whom she celebrated 50 years of marriage. She was a devoted mother to her sons, Jamie (Karleen) Lichner of Nazareth and Michael (Jamie) Lichner of Elkton, MD, and her daughter, Gina (Chris) Talarico of Whitehall. Rosie was also a proud grandmother to her six grandchildren, Christopher Lichner, Aleksander Kwiatek, Ariana Kwiatek, Megan Lichner, Allie Lichner, and August Lichner. She is also survived by her brother John (Bridget) Schaadt of Hinesville, GA, and sisters, Linda Heffintrayer, of Northampton and Susan Gilio of Whitehall. In addition to her parents, Rosie was predeceased by son-in-law, Steven Thompson.
Relatives and friends are invited to a viewing, Thursday, October 12th from 6-8pm and Friday, October 13th from 10-11am in Hope Lutheran Church, 240 South 8th Street, Tatamy. A funeral service will be held, Friday at 11am in the church. Interment will be private with the family.
In remembering Rosie, we celebrate a life well-lived. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of those she touched.
