Rosemary Aleathea Goodwin Barraco, 74, of Easton passed away September 21, 2014 at St. Luke's Hospice House after a long battle with cancer. She was the wife of Robert L. Barraco, Sr. who passed away on February 18, 2000. BORN: She was born on May 16, 1940 in Bury St. Edmunds in Suffolk County, England to the late Thomas George and Rose Ellen Frost Goodwin. PERSONAL: Rosemary met her husband while he served in the U.S.A.F. in England. After moving to the U.S., she lived in Maine, New Hampshire, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania. She was a late bloomer, attending evening classes at Seton Hall Law School in her late 40s. While practicing law, she also designed and made cloth dolls sold in retail shops. She was also an artist and writer. She wrote award-winning environmental research papers on such topics as whale and uranium mining. After retirement, she wrote non-fiction, romantic suspense, and contemporary/historical fiction. MEMBERSHIPS: She was an active member of the Bushkill Stream Conservancy, Pocono-Lehigh Writer's Club, and National Romance Writers Association. She was also a member of the New Jersey Bar Association. She attended Forks United Church of Christ. SURVIVORS: Rosemary is survived by her loving family, one son, Gary M. Barraco and his partner, Eric Hanlein of Stockertown; two grandsons, Roman Barraco and Trevor Anderson. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Robert L. Barraco, Jr. and her brother, Sonny Goodwin. SERVICES: A memorial service will be held on Sunday, November 2, 2014, following the 10 a.m. worship service, at Forks UCC, 4500 Sullivan Trail, Stockertown. Arrangements are under the care and direction of the Schmidt Funeral Home, P.C., 407 Belvidere St., Nazareth. MEMORIALS: In lieu of flowers, memorials in Rosemary's memory can be sent to the ASPCA or local Humane Society.
