Roy E. "Sam the Pie Man" Williams, Jr., 71, of Nazareth, passed away Thursday August 8, 2013 in Johns Hopkins Hospital, Baltimore MD. Roy was the beloved husband of Marie Altier Williams with whom he celebrated 50 years of marriage. Born: December 10, 1941 in Scranton County, he was the son of the late Roy E. Sr. and Anna Conors Williams. Personal: Roy was a 1959 graduate of Abington Heights High School in Clarks Summit and also attended Penn State University. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy during peacetime. Roy was a self-employed building contractor owning Nazareth Construction for many years. He was also co-owner, along with his wife Marie, of "The Pie Shop" in Nazareth. Memberships: He was a member of the Pompano VFW Post 142 in Florida, and the Vigilance Hose Fire Company #1 and East Lawn Fire Company, both in Nazareth. Survivors: Along with his beloved wife Marie, Roy is survived by one son, Chris and his wife Lori; and one daughter Cindy Werner and her husband Jody; two brothers, Michael and Richard; seven sisters, Nan Harris, Susan Hoffman, Julie Hill, Dorothy Moher, Mary DiMatteo, Laura Williams, and Virginia Messler; grandchildren, Heather Ream, Jonathan Colin, and Erin Werner; and one great-grandchild, Jacob Haug. He was predeceased by a sister, Elaine Bistocchi. Services: A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 10:00 am in Our Lady of the Snows Catholic Church, 301 S. State St., Clarks Summit. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, August 17 from 1:00 to 4:00 pm at the East Lawn Fire Co., 25 Newport Ave., Nazareth. Arrangements are under the care and direction of the Schmidt Funeral Home, 407 Belvidere St., Nazareth.
