Ruth M. Achenbach, 85, of Saylorsburg, passed away Thursday, June 10, 2021 in Lehigh Valley Hospital, Cedar Crest. She was the loving wife of Leroy D. Achenbach to whom she was married for 68 years on October 31.

Born in Ackermanville on July 19, 1935, she was a daughter of the late Roy and Mary Brinker Shuman.

Ruth was a member of Hope United Church in Wind Gap. For years, Ruth and Leroy volunteered for Meals on Wheels and at the Plainfield Farmer's Fair. In her spare time, she enjoyed cooking and baking, her vegetable garden and canning. She was a wonderful wife and mother, and always took good care of her family.

In addition to her husband Leroy, Ruth is survived by loving children, Dale of Bangor, Glenn and his wife Pat, and Nancy Massey, all of Forks Township, and Jeff and his wife Phyllis of Enola; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and sister, Mae Frable of North Carolina. She was predeceased by three sisters, and four brothers.

Relatives and friends are invited to call on Wednesday, June 16, 2021 from 10-11 am in the Schmidt Funeral Home, 202 West St., Wind Gap. Funeral services will follow at 11 am in the funeral home. Ruth will be laid to rest in Plainfield Cemetery, Plainfield Township.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Ruth's name may be offered to Meals on Wheels of the GLV, 4240 Fritch Dr., Bethlehem, PA 18020.
