Ruth A. Frey, 87, formerly of Wind Gap, died Sunday, August 30, 2026, at Slate Belt Health and Rehabilitation Center, Bangor. She was the wife of the late Henry C. Frey for 55 years until his passing on March 17, 2019. Born December 25, 1938, in Bethlehem Township, she was the daughter of the late Robert F. and Mabel (Seibold) Heckman and was one of thirteen children.

She worked as a seamstress for many years in local textile factories before retiring in 1998. A talented seamstress beyond her work, Ruth lovingly made quilts and clothing for her family, creating pieces that will remain treasured reminders of her. She also enjoyed attending fairs and carnivals and had a lifelong love of country music, especially the music of George Strait.

Surviving are her daughters. Rhonda Schlegel and her husband, Dale, of Plainfield Township, and Brenda Schlegel and her husband, Larry, of Wind Gap; a grandson, Joshua Schlegel. She was predeceased by a grandson, Andrew Justin Schlegel.

Services will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
