Ruth M. Ponist, 98, formerly of Wind Gap, passed away April 1, 2020 at Moravian Hall Square, Nazareth. Her husband, George J. Ponist passed away in 1978.

Born May 19, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Samuel O. and Emma S. Miller Jenkins.

Ruth was a seamstress for Valerie Fashions for 32 years, and then Majestic Athletics in Bangor from 1994 until retirement.

She was a member of Hope United Church of Christ in Wind Gap. Ruth was also a member of the Shutanka Chapter #202 in Pen Argyl, a 50th Worthy Matron, and a charter and life member of the Lehigh Valley Ladies Consistory of Allentown. In addition she was a member of UNITE, the ladies garment workers' union.

Ruth is survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.

A private graveside service will be held in Evergreen Cemetery, Pen Argyl. Arrangements are under the care of the Schmidt Funeral Home, 202 West St, Wind Gap.
