Sarah F.
Carbone
Nov 2, 1924 — Aug 21, 2025
Bethlehem
Sarah Carbone, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, passed away on August 21, 2025, at the age of 100.
Born November 2, 1924, Sarah was a devoted wife to her late husband, Louis Carbone, and a caring sister to the late Anthony Mezzatesta. She also shared a special bond with her west highland terriers ("westies"); Charlie, Toby and Angie – who were constant companions and brought her great joy.
She is survived by her children, Joe Carbone (Pat) of Dublin, OH and Kathy Carbone of Bethlehem, PA. Her love of Italian cooking and socializing with friends will live on in her granddaughters, Cristy Carbone (Jon Obers) and Sarah Carbone (Brian Young), and in her great-grandchildren, Cal Obers and Remi Obers of Chicago, IL. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews and lifelong friends who were blessed to know her.
Sarah spent most of her life in Elkland, PA where she became part of the fabric of the community. For over 40 years, she worked at Davis Variety Store, helping neighbors with her warmth and kindness. She was also a dedicated member of St. Thomas the Apostle Parish for 78 years, where her Catholic faith was the foundation of her daily life. She often attended daily mass and treasured the simple pleasure of gathering with friends afterwards for coffee and conversation.
Sarah's family will gather with friends to celebrate her remarkable life on October 25, 2025, at Kenyon Funeral Home, located at 214 W. Main St., Elkland, PA. Visitation will be held from 8:00 to 9:45 am, followed by a Catholic mass at St. Thomas the Apostle Parish at 10:00 am, located at 111 First St., Elkland, PA.
Local arrangements have been entrusted to Schmidt Funeral Home, PC, 407 Belvidere St., Nazareth, PA 18064. Online condolences may be expressed at www.schmidtfuneralhomepc.com
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to St. Thomas Parish in Sarah's memory, honoring the faith and community she held so dear. A check can be sent to 111 First St., Elkland, PA 16920. Please reach out to a family member for Zelle or Venmo donations.
Sarah will be remembered for her gentle spirit, unwavering devotion to her family and the countless ways she touched the lives of those around her. Her legacy is one of love, faith and quiet strength.
