Shirley L. Sylvester, 90, formerly of Bangor, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 1, 2024 at Gracedale in Nazareth. Born on February 13, 1934 in Wind Gap, she was the daughter of the late Floyd Sr. and Minnie (Brewer) Weidman.

Shirley was a graduate of Pen Argyl High School Class of 1952. She was the wife of the late Dennis Sylvester who passed away on March 8, 1992. She worked at Pen Argyl Glove Co. and then Serge Elevator in North Bangor for twenty-nine years before retiring. Shirley was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Bangor.

Shirley is survived by two sons, Dennis J. Sylvester and his wife Sharon of Bangor and Duane P. Sylvester and his significant other Fi Albano of Stroudsburg; four grandchildren, Scott Sylvester and his wife Melissa of Bangor, Nicole Transue and her husband Michael of Nazareth, Mark Sylvester and his fiancé Crystal Sisson of Bangor and Krystal Smith and her husband Cody of Wind Gap; eight great grandchildren, Zachary Sylvester and his wife Gloria, Connor Sylvester and his fiancé Sarah Hess, Alexia Sylvester, Owen Sylvester, Garrett Transue, Natalie Sylvester, Weston and Wyatt Smith; one great great granddaughter, Aleah Sylvester.

In addition to her parents and husband, she is predeceased by her sisters, Ruth Houck, Esther Kessler, Marion Getz, Mildred Neal, Violet Kromer, Joyce Meixsell and Dorothy Brewen; and a brother, Floyd Weidman, Jr.

Friends and relatives are invited to a viewing on Monday, May 6th from 10-11am in the Schmidt Funeral Home, 202 West St., Wind Gap with the funeral service beginning at 11am. Burial will follow in Wind Gap Cemetery. Arrangements are under the care of the Schmidt Funeral Home PC., 202 West St., Wind Gap.
