Stanley M. Lysek, Jr., 77, of Wind Gap, passed away on November 19, 2014 at St. Luke's Hospital, Bethlehem. He was the husband of Dorothy Padua Lysek, who passed away on May 17, 2013. Born May 9, 1937 in Allentown, he was a son of the late Stanley M. Sr. and Anna Zelina Lysek. He honorably served his country as an Army Paratrooper, completing 17 jumps with the 82nd Airborne Division. Stanley was a graduate of Hellertown High School where he was voted best athlete in 1955. He was educated at Moravian College, Bethlehem Business School and Penn State University and was a graduate of the Family Finance Management School. He was a self-employed professional Real Estate Broker, Land Developer, Senior Appraiser, Home Builder, as well as a licensed Insurance Agent, which his wife worked with him as a secretary throughout his career and in his various business ventures in the community. Being a life-long resident of the Lehigh Valley, he was actively involved with numerous civic, business trade organizations, and service clubs and was a devoted husband and father. Stanley was a dedicated faith-based community servant that believed in the higher standards of professional service and he took pride being an active member of the community by giving back. He served on numerous boards and committees in his home town and local government. His affiliations include being a past chairman of the Wind Gap Park Board, Athletic Association and past President of the Wind Gap Borough Council. He served on the Lehigh Valley Planning Commission with 30 years of service as a member of the executive board of directors, past secretary, treasurer and chairman of the county planning commission. He was also a zoning officer for the boroughs of Wind Gap, Roseto and the townships of Washington and Lower Mount Bethel in the Slate Belt area. He was of the Catholic faith, attending Mass regularly, while serving on the church parish council and cemetery committee of the Saint Joseph and Elizabeth parish. He received the Blue Mountain Jaycees Distinguished Service Award and the Pennsylvania State Keystone Award for his many years of community service. Stanley is survived by two sons, Keith of Wind Gap, and Kevin of Collegeville. A Graveside service will be held on Wednesday November 26 at 2:00 p.m. in Holy Savior Cemetery, Bethlehem. There are no calling hours. Arrangements are under the care and direction of the Schmidt Funeral Home PC, 202 West St. Wind Gap.
