Obituary

Steven John Herb, 70, of Tatamy, PA, passed away the morning of September 20, 2020 in the loving arms of his wife.

Born in Easton, PA on November 25, 1949, Steve was the son of Doris (Markley) Herb and John (Jack) Herb.

Steve grew up in Belvidere, NJ, graduated from Belvidere High School and the University of Maine, with a BS in Wildlife Biology. After retiring from the New Jersey Division of Fish, Game and Wildlife as a Conservation Officer and then Assistant Director; Steve worked conserving land with the NJ Green Acres Program.

On June 13, 1993, Steven married his beloved wife Anna Cole Herb.

Steve was most at home in the woods and on the water. He loved fishing, hunting, camping, gardening and spending time at his cottage in Temple, Maine.

He enjoyed keeping bees, carving decoys, and raising service dogs for The Seeing Eye Program and Guiding Eyes for the Blind.

His greatest joy in life was his family and spending time together.

Steve is survived by wife, Anna Herb; daughter, Alicia Brooke Mercier and husband Peter of Grand Lake Stream, Maine; daughter, Brodie Marie Friesen and husband Gregory of Providence, Rhode Island; son, Kyle Maddock of Reston, Virginia; sister, Deborah Ribner and husband Dr. Jeffrey Ribner of Endwell, New York; brother, Jeff Herb and wife Debra of White Township, New Jersey; brother-in-law, Jim Cole and wife Deborah; sister-in-law, Bernadette Roeder and husband James; 11 grandchildren; four nephews; and two nieces. He is predeceased by parents; son, Travis Maddock; and mentor and friend, Homer Hicks.

Arrangements are under the care of the Schmidt Funeral Home, 407 Belvidere St., Nazareth, PA.

Memorials can be made in honor of Steven Herb to the Alzheimer's Association or The Seeing Eye Program.
