Thelma E. Smith, age 97, formerly of Wind Gap, passed away Tuesday, March 11, 2014, at the Pickering Manor Home, Newtown, PA. BORN: March 23, 1916, in Plainfield Township, she was a daughter of the late Clarence and Myrtle Glasser Broad. She was preceded in death by her husband, William A. Smith. PERSONAL: Thelma was a 1934 graduate of Pen Argyl High School. She was employed as a sewing machine operator for Gaye Sportswear and Shirley Blouse. Thelma was a charter member of the Earl Held All Girl Band in 1937. SURVIVORS: She is survived by one daughter, Janis Goldman and her husband Jeffrey of Langhorne; one son, W. Richard Smith and his wife Charlotte of Richmond, KY; two sisters, Carolyn Marlatt of Bangor, and Virginia Morrow of Somers, CT; five grandchildren, Erica Montes and her husband Carlos, Michael Smith and his wife Hope, Andrew Smith and his wife Raychell, Lisa Edwards, and Jeffrey Edwards and his wife Debbie; and six great grandchildren. SERVICES: Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. in the Schmidt Funeral Home, P.C., 202 West St., Wind Gap. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Saturday from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Wind Gap Cemetery.
