Vera L. Rodgers, 83, of Nazareth, passed away on Monday, February 8, 2016, at St. Luke's Hospital Anderson Campus. She was the beloved wife of Blaine R. Rodgers, with whom she shared 56 years of marriage.
Born on June 17, 1932 in Nazareth, she was the daughter of the late Floyd and Edith Hartzell Edelman.
Vera graduated from Nazareth High School in 1950. She worked as a secretary at the Allentown State Hospital and later in the cafeteria for the Nazareth Area School District. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
She was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ, Nazareth and the American Legion Auxiliary, Nazareth.
Along with her husband, Blaine, Vera is survived by her only child, Kim Ventin and her husband John of Upper Nazareth Twp. Also surviving are 2 grandchildren, Angie Gazzano and her husband Michael, and Adam Ventin and his partner Danielle; 4 great-grandchildren, Giuliana and Nicholas Gazzano, and Nicco and Gabriella Ventin; and a niece, Susan Edelman. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by 2 brothers, Donald and Floyd Edelman, Jr.
Relatives and friends are invited to call on Saturday, February 13, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. in the Schmidt Funeral Home, P.C., 407 Belvidere St., Nazareth. Services will begin at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home, with Rev. Curtis G. Kemmerer officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery, Nazareth.
