Viola E. Berger, 86, of Tatamy passed away October 18, 2014 in Manor Care Old Orchard. She was the wife of Robert P. Berger who passed away September 17, 1990. Together they celebrated 44 years of marriage prior to his death. BORN: Viola was born January 28, 1928 in Stockertown. She was a daughter of the late Charles and Carrie Schaeffer Klump. PERSONAL: She worked at Magnetic Winding and later retired as a shipping clerk for Country Miss. During the holiday season, Viola enjoyed crocheting Christmas ornaments for family and friends. She also loved to attend garage sales with her sister Margaret and spend time with her family at their cabin in Promised Land. MEMBERSHIPS: She was a life member of Tatamy Fire Co., the Eastern Star and St. Peter's United Church of Christ where Viola was proud to be a part of four living generations of women attending the church concurrently. SURVIVORS: She is survived by two daughters, Nancy Mengel and her husband Dale, and Connie Berger all of Tatamy; two grandchildren, Sherri Siegel and her husband Gary, and Melissa Bealer and her husband Peter; four great-grandchildren, Lauren and Robert Siegel and Izabella and Gavin Bealer; two brothers, Carl Klump of Wax Hall, NC and Charles Klump of Jersey Shore, PA and one sister, Margaret Bortz of Stockertown. Along with her parents and husband, Viola was predeceased by two sisters, Irene Searcy and Violet, in infancy; and one brother, Willis Klump. SERVICES: Funeral services will be private with burial in Forks Cemetery. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Schmidt Funeral Home, PC, 407 Belvidere St., Nazareth. MEMORIALS: In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Viola's memory may be offered to St. Peter's UCC, P.O. 188, Tatamy, PA 18085.
