Obituary

William G. Cherry, 83, of Ross Twp., Saylorsburg, passed away Sunday, August 14, 2016, at the Slatebelt Health & Rehabilitation Center, Bangor. He was the beloved companion of Linda Richline, for more than 23 years. Born March 20, 1933, in Allentown, he was a son of the late Frank and Mary (Horvath) Cherry.

A member of the U.S. Army, Bill honorably served his country during the Korean Conflict from 1950-1955. Upon returning home from the service, he worked as a truck driver for various trucking companies in the Lehigh Valley until his retirement.

In addition to his companion Linda, Bill is survived by his beloved daughters, Kimberly Rudakewiz-Bedford and her husband Jack of Bethlehem, and Anita Kovacs and her husband Craig of Northampton. Also surviving is his brother, Edward Cherry of Danielsville; 8 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his son, William Cherry.

Family and friends are invited to call from 10 to 11 am on Wednesday, August 17, at the Schmidt Funeral Home, 202 West Street, Wind Gap, PA. A funeral service will follow at 11 am in the funeral home with the Rev. Douglas B. Hayes officiating. Burial will follow at the Wind Gap Cemetery, Pen Argyl.
