Winifred A. 'Winnie" Mengel, 73, of Forks Township, passed away on Thursday, December 7, 2017 at her residence, with her devoted husband by her side.

Born March 11, 1944, in Pen Argyl, she was a daughter of the late Richard Sr. and Velma Bowers Siegfried.  She was the wife of Frank Mengel with whom she shared 52 years of marriage.

Winnie was a graduate of Nazareth High School, class of 1962.  Earlier in life she worked at the Pioneer Blouse Mill; later she baby sat for several children.  Winnie took pride in making her home a special place for her children and beloved grandchildren. Through the years, memories of those family times together include her dog Muffy. As her health declined she depended on the loyalty and help of her husband Frank, who showed an unwavering commitment to helping her and making her comfortable.

She was a member of Forks United Church of Christ where she served on the Counting Committee.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her daughter, Cheryl Deleon-Snyder and her husband Matthew of York, PA; three grandchildren, Dylan, Marissa and Chase; a brother, Richard A. Siegfried Jr. and his wife Patricia of Bushkill Township.  In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her son Michael Mengel and sister Constance Smith.

Relatives and friends are invited to call on Saturday, December 16, 2017 from 10:00 till 11:00 a.m. in Forks United Church of Christ, 4500 Sullivan Trail, Stockertown, PA 18083.  Funeral services will follow at 11:00 am, with Pastor Bob Gutekunst presiding.  Winnie will be laid to rest in Forks Cemetery, Stockertown.  Arrangements are under the care and direction of the Schmidt Funeral Home, 407 Belvidere St., Nazareth.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to all the staff at Fresenius Dialysis Center, in Palmer Township, for their friendship and caring way these last several years.
