Cremation Package Options
Cremation
Because cremation is becoming increasingly popular, Schmidt Funeral Home offers a full range of cremation service packages, from full traditional services to basic direct cremation, in order to meet each family's needs. While cremation is an option for final disposition, it does not prevent a family from having a traditional funeral service. Many choose to have a viewing and funeral service prior to cremation with burial of the remains afterwards.
With all cremations, there is a 24 hour waiting period from the time of death until the cremation can take place, and authorization from the county coroner or medical examiner is required in each case.
All of our cremation packages include the services of our licensed funeral directors and staff, local transfer of your loved one to the funeral home, the cost of cremation and the county coroner's authorization fee. We will also assist the family in writing and placing an obituary in the newspaper, and scheduling with clergy as may be necessary.
Cremation with Funeral Service
Following the format of a traditional funeral, this option allows for a visitation and ceremonial events to commemorate your loved one. In addition to the above services, this option includes full preparation of your loved one, use of our facilities and/or funeral director services for viewing and funeral services, and the use of a rental cremation casket. Cremation takes place after services and cremated remains are returned to the family.
Cremation with Memorial Service
Generally held after the cremation itself, we will help you to plan and conduct a gathering for family and friends to visit, share memories, and share support. In addition to the above services, this option includes the use of our facilities and/or funeral director services for the Memorial Service. The cremated remains are returned to the family.
Cremation with Graveside Service
This allows for a funeral service after the cremation has occurred. If you wish to inter, inurn, or scatter the cremated remains of your loved one, we will help you plan and conduct the ceremonies surrounding these options.
Family Identification and Cremation
In lieu of a public visitation and ceremony, this option allows the family to gather and view your loved one. This informal identification allows your family a chance to say goodbye without a full service. This option includes the limited services of the funeral director and staff, basic reposing of your loved one for viewing purposes, and the use of our facilities for family visitation for a maximum of one hour and limited to six people. The cremated remains are returned to the family.
Direct Cremation
The simplest of options, the cremation takes place without any visitation or funeral services. This option includes only the basic services of the funeral director and staff. The cremated remains are returned to the family.
Contact us to discuss prices for any of the above packages. The following costs will be in addition to the price of each package:
Certified copies of the Death Certificate; merchandise such as memorial folders, register books and urns; newspaper charges to run obituary; clergy honorarium; cemetery fees; and any mileage for removal or transportation beyond a 30 mile radius.
